IMDB reports:
Batman star Christian Bale faced financial ruin just five years ago, when he was so deep in debt his house was repossessed.
Despite starring roles in American Pyscho in 2000 and Reign of Fire in 2002, the former child star reveals that in 2003 he wasn’t earning enough money through acting to support himself and his wife Sibi Blazic.
He was rescued by his pay cheques for 2004’s the Machinist and Batman Begins the following year, which helped lift him out of near-poverty and turn him into one of Hollywood’s biggest earners.
And Brit Bale insists he isn’t alone in the movie industry, despite the misconception that all actors are multi-millionaires.
He tells Details magazine, “I don’t believe that there’s an actor alive who hasn’t been in that position - and in that position many years after people recognise you and have a very wrong impression of what they imagine your life to be like.”
When asked about his own encounter with financial ruin, Bale, reveals, “I know absolutely when it was. I’m just trying to decide how comfortable I am talking about it.
“(It’s) only going back five years. Absolutely, yeah. House repossession - all that.”
Bale adds that he accepted film roles, while broke, just to clear himself of debt - including one particular movie that he doesn’t name: “I won’t tell what it was, but it was following closely on the heels of (the repossession). It ended up that I found a great many experiences from it - but the motivation was completely keeping the head above water.”

Case-mate has announced the release of a “groundbreaking” new product designed to protect your iPhone, iPod touch, iPod classic (80GB and 160GB) or BlackBerry Curve from scratches using a military-grade Scotchgard film from 3M that was originally designed to protect Apache helicopter blades during Desert Storm. The film is also completely clear, so there are no bulky, ugly cases to contend with.

When celebrities do good!
It’s nice to see stars using their fame and money for good.
One such artist is Latinolicous Juanes.
Juanes is joining fellow rocker/humanitarian Bono and several other artists in Japan to help take a stand against world poverty.
He is taking part in two concerts while visiting overseas to support the “One For All Demonstration” which is tied to the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).
He’ll be playing concerts in Tokyo and Osaka.
Earlier today, the concert took place under rain and winds while Juanes joined Bono and other musicians on stage.
The goal is to remind the government about keeping its promise to help people living in poverty.
And it looks like the Japanese have become Juanes fans, as his his single Me Enamora is a Top-5 hit on the radio there. He’s singing in Spanish!

Bill Murray’s wife of more than 10 years, Jennifer Murray, filed a complaint in court against the actor. She alleges he physically assaulted her and suffers from severe drug and alcohol addictions. She’s citing the complaint as grounds for divorce and is also seeking to have their prenuptial agreement nullified because of Bill’s abusive behavior. The Charleston Post and Courier reports:
According to the complaint, Jennifer Murray moved into a Sullivan’s Island home in 2006 with the couple’s four children due to her husband’s “adultery, addiction to marijuana and alcohol, abusive behavior, physical abuse, sexual addictions and frequent abandonment.”
Jennifer also provided details of the times Bill assaulted her, including an incident where he allegedly hit her in the face and then told her she was lucky he didn’t kill her:
It was at the Sullivan’s Island home, according to the complaint, that Murray allegedly abused his wife in November 2007. The six-page court filing says Murray “hit his wife in the face and then told her she was ‘lucky he didn’t kill her.’ “
UPDATE: TMZ has a statement from Bill Murray’s lawyer: “Bill Murray is deeply saddened by the dissolution of his marriage to Jennifer. Mr. and Mrs. Murray remain loving parents, committed to the best interests of their children. Mr. Murray asks that the public respect his family’s privacy at this difficult time.” I’m not a lawyer, but shouldn’t they have denied the allegations?

Bad news movie watchers IMDB reports that popcorn prices will begin to sore:
The increasing use of corn to produce ethanol for cars has sent prices of the staple soaring — not only in the supermarket, but also at the concessions counters at theaters. The AMC theater chain increased the price of its popcorn 25 cents last weekend. Larry Etter, chairman of the National Association of Concessionaires, told ABC News Tuesday that theaters are also having to deal with higher paper pulp prices, which boosts the costs of the paper bags and tubs for the popcorn as well as the cups for sodas. Moreover, higher fuel prices drive up delivery costs. The price rise at the concessions counter comes at a time when many theaters are also raising ticket prices — in some cities to more than $10 each. Since the beginning of the year, the average ticket price has risen 3 percent — on top of last year’s 5 percent rise.
…looks like its time to start sneaking it in the theater again.
